God created all things by his word: "And God said." He reveals himself in his works of creation. Chapter 3 tells the tragic story of the fall of man-his deliberate disobedience which broke creation order. When this creation order was kept, the world was full of peace and righteousness God was glorified, man was happy, and all creation rejoiced day and night. He established spiritual order: God first, mankind next, and the material world last. He created a good and orderly world for his own glory and for our happiness. Chapters 1 and 2 tell us that God is almighty and that he is sovereign. We also find that our lives have meaning and purpose.
Through Genesis study, we can understand why our world is like it is, and where we must look to find a solution to its many problems. Genesis, the first book of Moses, is the book of beginnings.
